itunes to pearl? no pop up? need software?

by Ricky Beantown on Sep.07, 2010, under BB Geeks, Help Forums

my son just got a pearl from his dad. he is trying to load his itunes music on to it. do we need some type of software? he says that he should just be able to plug it into the computer and a pop up will come up but it doesn’t so we haven’t even got to the option of loading anything on to his phone. i’m thinking we need blackberry software but the 12 year insists not…… (could be true but just in case) what could be the problem if no software is needed?
thank you

Recent Onset of Rapid Battery Drain—Even When Phone Is Off

by Ricky Beantown on Aug.31, 2010, under BB Geeks, Help Forums

My T-Mobile 8220 (which was replaced in April because the Bluetooth quit) worked fine for several months (under light use) and then the battery, which was previously long lasting, started to drain rapidly. It began draining 20-30 percent in 24 hours even when the phone was turned off. I thought it was because the battery was over a year old, so I bought an apparently new one, a RIM-branded C-M2 (from EMTC, Inc., for $9.95 including shipping). The new battery performed the same as the original. I’ve kept everything turned off when the phone is on except the minimum (e.g., no wireless, GPS or Bluetooth service running), reset the phone and updated the software to v. 4.6.0.180; no change.

I then talked to T-Mobile customer service, who considering what I had already tried, had no further suggestions. The CS tech felt there is most likely a problem in the phone’s hardware. (The phone is now out of warranty.)

As a last step before updating the software to v. .308, recommended in this forum, I drained the battery 100 percent a couple of times, which in each case took about 2.5 days. Still no improvement. In fact, after those two cycles, the battery completely drained essentially overnight.

Has anyone else experienced this? Is the phone on the way out or have I more likely been dealing with two bad batteries?

Thanks.

by Ricky Beantown on Aug.29, 2010, under BB Geeks, Help Forums

I have a pearl 8220 flip and it was pushed(?) into water by a four legged beast (grrr…love the beast but not happy with said beast regarding this matter). was fished out quickly. was left to dry and it seems everything works except for the fact that when I call someone, they cannot hear me speak.

it was dropped around 48 hours ago. could it just need more drying time? anyone else ever have this problem?

any thoughts?

Blackberry Messenger Deleted??

by Ricky Beantown on Aug.13, 2010, under BB Geeks, Help Forums

Hey guys,

So earlier today I had plugged in my blackberry pearl flip into my desktop via usb to update to the new Blackberry Messenger, which the desktop software manager found…and proceeded to do. Once it finished doing so though i went to go find it and it wasnt in my instant messenger folder or the downloaded folder or any other folder. I looked at the apps list in the desktop software and it showed blackberry messenger listed in it, so does this mean its somewhere on my phone still?

This wouldnt be a problem for me though if i was able to download it off apps world but i have a basic plan which only allows instant messeging and emails, so I cant get to it via wifi.

Does anybody know how I can get this back? Or is it gone for good?

Flip 8220 Constant Rebooting

by Ricky Beantown on Jul.20, 2010, under BB Geeks, Help Forums

My wife’s BlackBerry Flip 8220 is constantly rebooting. This is exactly like pulling the battery and happens a couple of times a day, usually when she has a weak signal. This happens whether the battery is fully charged or not. I’d really appreciate any help or suggestions. Thanks!

Abuse at 40

by mslpp on Jul.13, 2010, under BB Geeks, Help Forums

Well, it’s hard not to love my 8220 today. Last week I set it on the roof of the car (in search ofbetter reception) and promptly forgot about it. At 40 km I hear a dionk off the back window and then the trunk and then see my flip seemingly explode into pieces as it smacked into pavement. When I got back to it I realized that all the pieces were, were my 2 piece case, the battery and battery door. I put the battery back in and it has run flawlessly since!

That’s what I call reliable!

Latest known OS for 8220: 5.0

by Ricky Beantown on Jul.09, 2010, under BB Geeks, Help Forums

Hey all,

I know 5.0 is a sore subject for 8220.

But if you look at the OS Super Page on Crackberry forums (http://forums.crackberry.com/f151/bl…r-page-274590/) under the 8220, it shows this:

BlackBerry 8220
Latest Official OS: 4.6.0.305
Latest Known OS 5.0.0.314

I know where the official release can be found.
But where is this unoffical 5.0 download to be found?

Thanks.
