Hey everyone, I just got my hands on an old Blackberry 8100 (OS4.2.1.96)

Sadly, I’m almost certain that this phone won’t be able to run 5, but while I was in high school this was my favorite phone and I recently just received one..for free.

The phone’s trackball doesnt work(clicking the trackball scrolls up), and the volume up doesn’t work either. I’m not really going to use the phone as cellular device, but I would rather just have it on my desk as a souvenir…in working condition as a backup.
So I’ve decided to buy a new housing for it, probably fixing the trackball problem, and then this is where I’m not sure. Would the new housing fix the volume bar problem also? Or would I have to actual replace parts on the phone?

Hey everyone! Thank you for the upgrade guide, I successfully updated to the latest OS!!! Question…does the pearl have a web browser on the latest os?
Next question, the upgrade instructions told me to install blingball, which I did. At the time I had no idea what blingball was, now I realize it is to change the trackball color.
The trackball is now red, instead of white. Is there a way to change this? I went into blingball, and you can only change it from red to blue or green, but blue or green dont work. how can i make it white again? is it possible to uninstall blingball?

Then drag and click the start & end slider to set your wanted segment, or type the start & end time in the corresponding text box directly to get the exact segment. You also can pre-listen the converted audio before generate.
Step 3: Click “Browse” on the right side of "Local Output Folder" to choose the output destination.

i dont like the native media player that comes with it and have installed mobiola xplayer lite. i use it to listen to old time radio and audiobooks. when i am done listening to a file i cant figure out how to delete it using xplayer and have been switching back and forth between the native app and xplayer. i am sure there is a way to delete using xplayer and would be appreciative(SP?) if someone could help me out

:confused: If there is a page about this please send me in the right direction and any help is appreciated… first I have a unlocked 8100 and I just bought a go phone so I could use the sim on it.. Now when I put the sim from the go phone the pearl can’t find anything. Nothing works… — I borrowed a co-workers sim (he has att) and my pearl worked great. Picked up his messages and everything… so what am I missing??

How am I able to view my pictures that I have taken on my phone in Media manager.

I can see images that are on my memory card but when I click on pictures it states that that "There are no media files in this folder that match the filter settings.

I have an 8100 running OS 4.2 (T-Mobile service), Enterprise server – company issued device. After downloading several apps from BB App World, I receive the following message when I try to load them:

Error starting (name of app): Class ‘net.rim.device.api.system.CodeModuleGroupManager’ not found.

Other apps such as Facebook work fine – any ideas?

The downloaded apps were PayPal and Golf Channel Mobile.

Got a pearl 8100 here. It just stopped making calls. It rarely does, and if it does, it will drop during the call.

I loaded the latest OS on it still the same problem. Tried SIM card in another phone in the same spot and it works.

The pearl does get full signal and EDGE.
Could this be a hardware problem?
The antenna, maybe?

Laptop + Vista since March 2009, sync with Outlook 2003 worked fine.
About a month ago sync stopped working: "Unknown Error".
I disinstalled desktop manager 5.2 and installed the most recent version.
No success, still "Unknown Error".
Anyone has an idea of how to resolve this?

I was working on os 4.5, and kept running out of memory (around 10mb or less). Then I bricked my phone and had to downgrade to 4.2 (the latest os for tmo) and WOW! what a HUGE difference. I now have 30mb+ of free space and the phone runs smoothly with no lag. what a huge difference. the only trade off is a cra*py media player, but that is a small price to pay for a smooth running phone that does not lag all the time.
