update app help – fatal error
by Ricky Beantown on Sep.04, 2010, under BB Geeks, Help Forums
I tried a search but couldn’t find anything, so I hope this being a new post is okay.
My BB has wanted to update, and in so doing failed – leaving some of the apps – ubertwitter and twitter for blackberry unusable.
I’ve tried to update both, and from the PC device manager as well. When I get to unzipping and transfering the version of ubertwitter (4.5) it gets to the end where I get a Fatal Error in the download.
I had to downgrade my package a few months back, but since I had Twitter for BB working until a couple days ago I didn’t think anything of it.
Is there anything I can do? I appreciate the help in advance, thank you!

Help – no Mass Storage Mode on new 8330 – tried everything
by jeffw_00 on Sep.01, 2010, under BB Geeks, Help Forums
We called VZW blackberry support – they were stumped. we tried this
and the Microsoft hotfix it references – no luck.
the VZW support guy had her "hard reset" her unit (whatever that means).
any other ideas out there?
Because of what does work, it doesn’t feel like a HW issue – maybe a driver issue?
THANKS!

Help – Dead blackberry curve 8330 – device not recognized when plugged into PC
by Ricky Beantown on Aug.30, 2010, under BB Geeks, Help Forums
A few days later (~5 days), when I come back to find that the device won’t turn on. If I plug it into my PC, all I get is a steady red light, it doesn’t even recognize the device when plugged in (Windows 7).
I tried to battery pull trick first, didn’t work. Read a few FAQs about reinstalling the OS (I had 4.5 or w/e the default was), but I can’t even get the software to recognize the device…
I know the BB curves battery life was pathetic, but I’m surprise to see that a fully charged battery would completely drain out by just idling in its holster for 5 days???

Media Card Upgrade
by Ricky Beantown on Aug.28, 2010, under BB Geeks, Help Forums
I presently have a 1GB (SD-Mini Card) in my BB 8330 Curve. I now need more storage room. Can you tell me what is the maximum Giga Bite Mini Card that will function properly in my 8330 Curve? I think I can use up to a 4GB card, but I’m not sure.
Thanks in advance,
Virgmb

8330 Memory Error/Freezing
by Ricky Beantown on Aug.26, 2010, under BB Geeks, Help Forums
I have the 8330 Curve, running on OS 4.5.0.138 on VZW
I have noticed that ever since the newest Facebook upgrade was installed I tend to get the hourglass of death (even when I’m not in the program, but have it running in the background to get my messages) and then a memory error. I have had to do battery pulls numerous times (roughly once or twice a day) because I get impatient with how its acting. I deleted pretty much any app I could to make sure it wasnt a memory issue yet it still is acting up. Any suggestions on what may be wrong? I’m thinking of calling VZW and seeing what they have to say but I have a feeling they will just tell me to upgrade to their new Bold or something with more internal memory and see if that works.
I love my Curve and dont wanna part with her yet cuz I have heard talk of a new Blackberry coming out this Holiday season thats supposed to be similar to the Torch.

Guitar tabs from webpage
by Ricky Beantown on Aug.25, 2010, under BB Geeks, Help Forums
I don’t have a lap top, though I do plan on getting one soon, so I rely on my black berry for on the go internet. I play the guitar so I often want to check tabs and make sure I’m playing a song right/learn a new song. My poor 8330 can’t handle website like UltimateGuitar.com, so I had the idea of creating a website with plain text webpages so I could easily view my guitar tabs. (Of course I have to add them myself so thats not a problem) I already have a free website set up for this purpose but I’m having one issue; the tabs get word-wrapped and make them unreadable. Is there a way to set up the webpage correctly (html and what not) or a setting on my blackberry to prevent this?

Help: my audio (mp3) files freeze/stop when I unlock my device
by Ricky Beantown on Aug.24, 2010, under BB Geeks, Help Forums
My device will enter locked state after 10 mins of inactivity (I also sometimes just lock it right away myself so that I don’t interrupt the audio by accidentally pressing buttons when my BB is in my pocket).
The problem is that when I enter my code to unlock the device, the mp3 audio file stops playing immediately. This wouldn’t be THAT big a problem if it just PAUSED the audio, and I could just unpause it to pick up where it paused. The problem is that it STOPS the audio track completely and if I try to re-start it, it starts playing from the beginning (and I have no idea about just what time in the track it stopped at, and it takes several mins to scan the track to find out.)
I found a post dated TWO YEARS ago describing exactly the same thing…but no solution was found at that time. I’m hoping that someone has solved this issue since then.
