8350i without BB service?
by Ricky Beantown on Aug.27, 2010, under BB Geeks, Help Forums
I thought I would solve my problem by buying a 2nd-hand 8350i on my own dime and just popping the employer-provided SIM card in it. My hope was that I would retain what I need (voice, SMS, PTT) and be on my merry way. However, it appears that I do have voice and PTT but have lost ALL messaging capability, probably because the messaging the BB goes through their own servers and I do not have BB service.
Is there any way around this dilemma? I do need both PTT and SMS, and the only two QWERTY devices with PTT capability are the 8350i and the i465.

Boostberry SMS: directions to get working (Help)

OK people, If you want your BB 8350i to be able to have the "Compose SMS text" option just follow these instructions, and let me know if it works for you guys: 1) Go to "Options">"SMS Text", 2) Where it says "Data Coding", change it to & make sure it says "UCS2", 3)Where it says "Service Center", type: +13348000011 and click "Save", 4) Try to MMS someone and make sure it sends/receives MMS normally from your handset, 5) Do a battery pull and now it should appear the "Compose SMS Text" option when you press the BB menu button. |
Now, when I go to Options -> SMS Text…The only option available is "Leave messages on SIM card (yes/no)"
Is anyone aware of how you can make these options he explains appear? Could it be because of the service books I applied to the phone in one of the stickies here, to get MMS working and such?
Any help is appreciated!!!!!!
Thanks,

transferring contacts to 8350i
by Ricky Beantown on Jul.21, 2010, under BB Geeks, Help Forums
Anyhow, I want to get the contacts from a Motorola i335, which is also a Nextel phone, and transfer them to my new Blackberry 8350i. I don’t know if this matters, but the two phones are on separate accounts.
I tried transferring them through bluetooth, but every time I try, I get a message that the transfer failed. Could this be because the contacts are stored in different formats on the two phones?
Any help is greatly appreciated.
