CrackBerry guide to BlackBerry school apps
by Ryan Blundell on Sep.03, 2010, under BB Geeks, Help Forums
Become the Teacher’s Pet with these BlackBerry apps!
Doesn’t it seem like I have a bad habit of pointing out what some people fear and dread? It’s not that I get any pleasure out of it (bah-hahahaa). Like it or not, it’s almost time for school. It’s a new year; a year full of possibilities, memories and accomplishments. For some the joy (or pain) starts with a trip to get school supplies. If I were you, I would hold off on the sighing, whining and shuffling of your feet while the shopping cart fills up. Sharing in the excitement with your parents will probably pay off; and I’ll tell you why. Once the positive vibe is felt by all, you may find it easier to convince them that you need a BlackBerry this year. Tell them how it will keep you organized. Tell them how it will help you keep in touch. Tell them how it *ahem * won’t contribute to you social life. Tell them how you visited CrackBerry.com and read their Guide to Student Apps. Last year, we told you how to go back to school BlackBerry style. This year, I decided to expand on that list and give you another collection of applications; you know, for extra credit.

Saving Email as a template email with attachment
by Ricky Beantown on Sep.03, 2010, under BB Geeks, Help Forums
I know there use to be an app called " Xtemplate " but it doesnt include attachment nor does it support 5.0 (I think)
Scenario.
I want to reply to some ads on craigslist with same template with few attachments on it. How would I go about doing this more efficiently.
As of right now I do the following. Write the whole email out and save it under autotext, but then attach pictures individually as attachment (pain in the arse and time consuming)
Desktop Manager 6 – Won’t Backup my 9650 Bold
by Ricky Beantown on Sep.03, 2010, under BB Geeks, Help Forums
I simply hit "Back Up Now", it runs all the way to the end (like everything is working fine), then this error pops up.
"There was an error backing up"
"There could have been a problem with the device or connection during the backup. Verify that the device is turned on and connected"
I have never been able to do a backup, I always get this error.
Any ideas?
Thanks

9550 Sync Issues w/ Microsoft Sync
by Ricky Beantown on Sep.03, 2010, under BB Geeks, Help Forums
We know it isn’t the Escape as it syncs fine with my phone. Verizon told her they are having Bluetooth issues with later 9550 OS and her only choice is to downgrade her phone’s OS.
Any thoughts on this?
Thanks,
Marc
8350i DC issue and geo-tagging issue
by Ricky Beantown on Sep.03, 2010, under BB Geeks, Help Forums
any ideas? this is annoying and Telus tech and Telus customer service have been useless in helping me out with this issue, all they want me to do is send it in to get it looked at, and i refuse to give a store a DD on a loner, considering what i paid for my BB.
The geo-tagging issue is something i just discovered, coords donot show up on the picture even though the display says i have a good GPS fix. I have not used it enough yet to know much about the geo-tagging feature but working up in the middle of nowhere it would be nice to be able to use the geo-tagging feature when i send photos to my GF
thanks in advance

Random Antenna Attenuation
by Ricky Beantown on Sep.03, 2010, under BB Geeks, Help Forums
I’ve had my bold 9700 since June and it’s always had reliable antenna performance. The last two weeks I’m getting dropped calls everywhere – even in places I’ve never had them before. Signal repeatedly drops from 3G to EDGE to GPRS (whatever that last one is). I decided to swap out the SIM card from my Bold to my iPhone and no signal issues whatsoever.
I warranty’d my phone through AT&T (and they sent me the wrong color btw). My question though – what causes this kinda crap to happen to the phone? Faulty design? I’ve never really dropped it (except for maybe on a rug or on the bed). I’d like to prevent this from happening again.
